Porthcurno Necklace

£660.00
Sold

Eco Silver with dark blue and white recycled glass beads. A large one of a kind statement piece. Created for a collaborative exhibition with other members of The Cornwall Crafts Association, to celebrate 125 years of the National Trust. This piece is currently on display at Trelissike Gallery, Truro, Cornwall, UK.

I wanted to celebrate the work that The National Trust does to protect our South West coastal paths and beaches, Porthcurno in particular as it’s one of my favorite places.

This necklace is made up of a collection of individual pieces, mirroring the organic shapes of the rocks that have been molded by the sea. The textured surfaces portraying sand ripples at low tide, waves breaking on the rocks and patterns found in the retreating surf. Melted solid silver pebbles add a three dimensional quality, whilst the beads bring to mind the colours of the sea. The central piece depicts a swooping gulls eye view of Porthcurno beach.

Although similar designs may be created, no two necklaces in this collection are ever the same. The shapes and patterns of the silver will vary, taking on their own form as they go through the various creative processes and different bead combinations will be used. Ensuring that each piece is unique.

Length approx 62 cm. Central silver rock L5 X W3.5cm at widest point.
